Eligibility CTET November 2013

Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage):

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
  • OR
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

1.2 Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII: Elementary Stage

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.
  • Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled.
  • * Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education: For the purposes of this Notification, a diploma/degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.
  • Training to be undergone: A person with D.Ed (Special Education) or B.Ed (Special Education) qualification shall undergo, after appointment an NCTE recognized 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education.
  • The minimum qualifications referred above apply to teachers of Languages, Social Studies/Social Science, Mathematics, Science etc. In respect of teachers for Physical Education, the minimum qualification norms for Physical Education teachers referred to in NCTE Regulation, dated 3rd November, 2001 (as amended from time to time) shall be applicable. For teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, etc. the existing eligibility norms prescribed by the State Governments and other school managements shall be applicable till such time the NCTE lays down the minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers.
  • Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are provisionally admitted and their CTET Certificate shall be valid only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.
  • The candidate not having any of the above qualification shall not be eligible for appearing in Central Teacher Eligibility Test.

How To Apply

A prospectus for the examination is made available in the website
of Pareeksha Bhavan (www.keralapareekshabhavan.in) and SCERT
(www.scert.kerala.gov.in) Candidates are strictly advised to go through
the same before submitting the application form. Qualifications for
applying for each category are given in detail in the Prospectus.
The exam fee is Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) for each category. Fee for
SC/ST and differently abled categories is Rs.250/- (Rupees Two Hundred
and Fifty only).

Applications should be submitted to Pareeksha Bhavan only through
online. Print out of the application and copy of the certificates need not be
sent to Pareeksha Bhavan. Exam fee may be remitted in cash to any of the
selected branch of State Bank of Travancore inside and outside Kerala. The
procedure for sending application and remitting fee is given in detail in
the Prospectus (Page 14 & 15). Candidates can choose the district for the
examination while filling the application.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF PSTET
All questions in PSTET test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives
out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.
There will be two papers of PSTET.
(i) Paper I will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.
Note: A person who intents to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear
in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Duration of examination: One-and-a-half hours

Nature and standard of questions:
 The test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on educational psychology of teaching and
learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years. They will focus on understanding the characteristics and
needs of diverse learners, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of
learning.
 The Test items for Language-I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction, (as
chosen from list of prescribed language options in the application form).
 The Language-II will be from among the prescribed options other than Language-I. A candidate may choose
any one language from the available language options and will be required to specify the same in the
application form. The test items in language II will also focus on the elements of language, communication
and comprehension abilities.
 The test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving
abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In all these subject areas, the test items will be
evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that subject prescribed for classes: I–V, by the
Punjab State Government/SCERT.
 The questions in the tests for Paper I will be based on the topics prescribed for classes: I–V, but their
difficulty standard, as well as linkages, could be up to the secondary stage.

Paper II (for classes VI to VIII): No. of MCQs – 150

of 30 marks each. The test items will be evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that
subject as prescribed for classes VI-VIII by the Punjab State Government/SCERT.
 The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of the Punjab
State for classes VI-VIII but their difficulty standard as well as linkages could be up to the senior secondary
stage.
QUALIFYING MARKS
A person who scores 60% or more in the PSTET exam will be considered as PSTET pass. School Management
(Government, Local bodies, Government aided and unaided)
 May consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc., in
accordance with their extant reservation policy;
 Should give weightage to the PSTET scores in the recruitment process; however, qualifying the PSTET
would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria
for appointment.

Punjab Teachers Eligibility Test:

PSTET 2013 Exam pattern and Scheme:

PSTET consists of two objective type question papers. Each paper will consist of 150 MCQs and each question carries 1 marks totaling for 150 marks. Following are the details of question papers:

  1. Paper I: To become teachers for classes I-V in Punjab primary school.
  2. Paper II: To become teachers for classes between VI and VIII in Punjab upper primary school.
  3. Paper I and II: For those candidates who interested in teaching from Class I to VIII. They can appear for both the papers and have to get qualifying marks to be considered for all the classes.


Punjab Government is Going To Conduct The Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET). For All Those candidates who want to become Teacher of Class I To V And Class VI To VII In Punjab State School So If You want to become teacher as Government Employee then You need to TET Examination is Necessary for All The B.ED Degree holder Candidates . Eligible Candidates can apply through online mode for Punjab TET 2013 Exam .

Eligibility and Qualifications for Punjab TET :

Candidates should have following qualifications as prescribed by the NCTE. The State governments may change the qualifications and eligibility requirements as per the GOs issued by them.

Punjab TET (PSTET) Qualification Teachers of Classes I-V (Paper I):
Candidates should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 percent marks. Those appearing in final 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2 – year Diploma in Education in Special Education are also eligible. OR Candidates with BA / B.Sc. with at least 50 percent marks and B.Ed qualification can also apply.
Punjab TET (PSTET) Qualification Teachers of Classes VI-VIII (Paper II) : Applicants having B.A. / B.Sc and those appearing in final 2 year D.Ed. / B.A. /B.Sc. with at least 45 percent marks and passed / appearing in B.Ed / Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and passed or appearing in final 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / 4-year BA/ B.Sc.Ed. or B.A. (Ed.)/B.Sc. (Ed.) / B.Ed. (Special Education) with 50 percent in BA or B.Sc are eligible for PSTET.

How to apply online

  1. The candidate has to apply only online at

    . After registering himself/ herself, the candidate to have to pay examination fee based on his/her category by the following ways within prescribed dates & time available on the website –*Deposit the prescribed fee in the bank (listed on website i.e. Axis Bank Ltd. or HDFC Bank Ltd.) in form of E-Payment *Pay through E-Cash Coupon (Available in banks listed on the Website i.e. Axis Bank Ltd. or HDFC Bank Ltd.)

  2. Fill the online application form available on the website tet.bedpunjab.org by clicking at the link PSTET Online Registration.
  3. The application can be filled online only till 31-12-2012 up to 5.00 PM.
  4. If by mistake the candidate has filed in wrong data, he/she can correct the data till 31.12.2012 up to 5:00 PM. by entering his/her registration number and password. Henceforth no editing will be done and thereafter data will be locked and no change will be acceptable/ allowed.
  5. Only online forms will be entertained.
  6. The list of candidates whose fee is confirmed will be available on tet.bedpunjab.org for candidate reference.
  7. The candidate can download their ADMIT CARDS by visiting the website tet.bedpunjab.org again by entering his/her registration number and password (Candidates are advised not to disclose the password to any one for data security). Incase candidate unable to get the admit card, he/she must contact ……………………… personally or on helpline numbers one day before the saidexamination upto 5.00 PM, failing which department will not be held responsible.
  8. For any clarifications regarding the online filling of the form, the candidate can call at …………………….. help-line numbers ……………………… on all working days from 9:00 am to 5.30 pm.
